So I have been challenged by the lovely @HRNorrod. What better event to kick me into trying out the blog on my website still in progress?
I have to give you seven (or so) lines from the seventh line of page seven of a WIP. I'm using THE SPACE BETWEEN, currently undergoing revisions. Deanna Ellis is a DEA agent suffering survivor's guilt and is determined to find out what went wrong during a seemingly routine drug buy in which her colleague is killed. Matters are complicated when evidence reveals her colleague, also her best friend, was a traitor, selling agent names.
To round out the last seven, I have to tag seven others to do the same. Check my twitter @sidneytblake for those lucky individuals. :)
The excerpt:
Sam moved closer. “And?”
Leigh had begged from the carpet wet with her urine for Ellis’ silence. Ellis stipulated her partner had to end the relationship. It looked like Leigh lied. “He was violent with her,” she said. “I found her on the bedroom floor covered with fist marks. Everywhere but the face.”
Luke ran his hands through his hair. “When?”
Seemed like yesterday. “Almost a year ago.”
“And you didn’t tell us?”
Her lip quivered. “She was embarrassed. Afraid what y’all would think of her.”
